Seattle Storm a perennial challenger

The defending WNBA champions, Seattle Storm, are currently in rebuilding mode. The champions were won by an inept Sue Bird and the dominant Australian stretch-5 Lauren Jackson. Unfortunately, Jackson's absence triggered a slide down the standings. The Storm drafted new players in both the 2015 and 2016 drafts.

Chicago Mercury is a deep playoff team

The Mercury have made a number of trades in the off-season that should help them improve upon last season's performance. The team traded Bridget Pettis (Jillian Alleyne), Kim Smith, and the thirteenth selection of the 2012 draft for two players in WNBA Draft as well as a first round pick from the Minnesota Lynx in 2013. They also traded first-round picks to the Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks for Noelle Quinn, A'Quonesia Franklin, and Temeka Johnson. In return, the Mercury received a second-round pick in the 2013 draft and a third-round pick in the 2014 draft from the New York Liberty.

Washington Mystics Elena Delle donne

Washington Mystic's Elena Delle Donne will be entering her fourth season as a member of the team. She is the two-time WNBA champion. She averaged over 20 point per game in the regular season and ranked third in playoffs with an average field goal percentage of 50.8%. She also made the All-Star team for the sixth consecutive season. She led Washington Mystics last season to their first WNBA Championship. She also helped set a number of franchise and WNBA records.

Chelsea Gray, Chicago Mercury

Gray's team has witnessed a change in Chicago Mercury's star point-guard, even though she was not selected for her fifth consecutive All-Star nod. Gray is now a top-notch player in the league and has led her team to an impressive 4-0 record.
