The US women’s team struggled to contain Thailand's formidable attack. However, the 13-0 loss to Thailand was indicative of a bigger problem: Women's football isn’t supported as well as men's. While the US team has a well-funded program, Thailand doesn't. The federations would rather focus resources on their male counterparts, than support women’s football.

Pay disparity between men and women in US soccer
With a stunning 2-0 win over the Netherlands on Sunday, the U.S. Women's Soccer Team stunned all of the world. The women have won four World Cups, while the men have yet to do so. Aside from winning four titles, the women have not earned as much money as the men. This is one reason why the U.S. Soccer Federation has not paid women the same amount as men.
Although the US's recent performance in soccer has highlighted the disparity in pay between men and female players, this has long been a topic of controversy. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand recently praised the team's victory over Thailand of 13-0. The US women have scored more goals than the Thai team in a single World Cup game, a record for any nation.
