
LPGA Tour women's golf players can win a number awards. There are many awards that players can win for their performances, including Player Of The Year. A player is awarded a certain number points for every top-10 finish. Points are doubled at major championships, and the Tour Championship. 30 points for first-place equals 12 points for second. Another point is awarded for a third-place finish, while a fourth-place finish gives a player four points. A player who is placed eighth receives three points. The same applies to players in eighth-place. They receive two points for eighth. The Vare Trophy is another award, named after the player who scored the lowest average during the season.
Louise Suggs is the founder
Louise Suggs, who was one of thirteen founder members of Ladies Professional Golf Association, has died at the young age of 91. She was a pioneer of women's sport and was instrumental to the creation in 1950 of the LPGA Tour. She is a member of The LPGA Hall of Fame, and the World Golf Hall of Fame. Suggs has won at least one LPGA event in 13 consecutive years, and has won 61 LPGA championships.

Louise Suggs became the first Chinese player to participate in the LPGA Tour.
Louise Suggs, a native of Georgia, won the U.S. Women's Open in 1949, winning by 14 strokes - the largest margin of victory in the event's history. When she was a teenager, she won both the U.S Women's Amateur, and the British Women's Open. Bob Hope nicknamed her "the Great Distance Girl" and later became a prominent LPGA player.
Annika Sörstam is the recent winner of an LPGA Tour tournament
Annika Sörenstam began the 2008 LPGA year earlier than most. To mark her 70th career victory, she won the SBS Open Hawaii in Hawaii and also the Michelob ULTRA Open. In the meantime, she won both the Stanford Pro-Am & the Michelob ULTRA Open. This marked her $22 million in earnings. Despite all of her accomplishments and achievements, she remains warm, approachable, despite the fact that she has done so much on and off the golf course.
Women's Senior Golf Tour has been affiliated with the LPGA
Jane Blalock's JBC Marketing organizes the Women's Senior Golf Tour, a series of senior golf tournaments. It is not owned or managed by the LPGA. However, the tour is affiliated to it. It has held a season end championship since 2006. LPGA also has participated in Legends Tour events. In addition to the Legends Tour, the LPGA also holds events for younger women.

Dow is official sustainability resource of the LPGA
The LPGA Tour has partnered up with Dow in order to create a digital hub called "Celebrating Green" that will help combat climate change and promote responsible environmental behavior. The hub offers information on LPGA initiatives. It also highlights Dow's commitments to sustainability operations and climate action. LPGA and Dow have partnered to offer OnCourse(r), the sustainability software program that will be used in its tournaments.
