FIFA is a member.
FIFA is the FIFA affiliate for the United States national football team. In 1885, the team was founded for the first time. Its first game outside of the United Kingdom was against Canada, a team that the U.S. won 1-0. The U.S. became a finalist for the World Cup in 1934. It played again in Newark, New Jersey the next year. FIFA did not recognize the game. The U.S. was awarded bronze and silver medals at the St. Louis Summer Olympics in men's hockey, which were organized by St. Rose Parish (Christian Brothers College) and Christian Brothers College. It was the first tournament outside of Europe.
As a FIFA member, the United States belongs its regional body, CONCACAF. CONCACAF oversees international soccer in North America. The United States soccer federation is a nonprofit organization that has its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. It oversees both amateur and professional soccer in America, as well sanctioning tournaments.

It has played in seven consecutive FIFA World Cups
The U.S. Men's Soccer Team was almost insignificant in international soccer up until 1982. Although the North American Soccer League had been established in 1960 and 1970, it failed to make a mark in global soccer. The United States soccer didn't suffer, however. The United States' first World Cup appearance was in 1982. After losing to Egypt in tiebreaker, they were 1-1-1.
Since then, the team has had a long and varied history in soccer. U.S. football made their World Cup debut in 1990 and advanced to the quarterfinals twice. The team is today a major force in the sport, having hosted three World Cups.
It has hosted the FIFA Women's World Cups twice.
In 1999, the United States hosted the Women's World Cup. It was moved from China, where it had been hosted for the first-time in 1994. The bid was accepted and the U.S. soccer organization hosted the tournament. The tournament was also hosted by the U.S. Soccer organization. In U.S. Cup '95 the US women's soccer team beat Mexico 4-0 and tied Colombia. The women's team also came third, defeating Canada 3-0 and earning all star honors.
Apart from the World Cup, several international soccer events have been hosted by the US team, such as the Women's Olympic Games or the Pan-American Games. The US women's national soccer team has made significant progress since 2014, and their World Cup success has increased their international standing. Tobin Heath (Abby Wambach), Tobin Hart, Alex Morgan, April Heinrichs and Hope Solo are just a few of the well-respected names in women’s soccer.

It has won four Olympic Gold medals
The United States soccer team has won 4 Gold medals over the course of Olympic soccer. Both the women's and men's soccer teams have won one gold medal and one silver. The first gold medal was won by the US soccer team in 1996. They beat China 2-1 in Atlanta. They beat Norway 2-0 to win their second gold medal in Sydney. They won three more consecutive games after that.
Women's soccer has a long history of dominance. Canada lost their first semifinal match in Rio. They have won more gold medals, but they haven't won any World Cups yet. Abby Wambach isn't yet ready to retire, but she used her Olympic experience to motivate the team and give them an opportunity for improvement.
