
There are many questions about the USA's disappointing performance in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Can the team win again gold? While the answer is no it doesn't mean that the team will not win gold again. The USA has a history of disappointment, especially when it comes to Olympic hockey. Although the team was close to the Olympics gold medal in the past it has not been able to do so.
Angela Ruggiero
Angela Ruggiero began playing hockey with Team USA when she was fifteen years old. She was the youngest player on the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team in 1998. They went on to win the gold medal in Nagano (Japan). She continued playing for Team USA, and even played on the Olympic Teams in 2002 and 2010.

Herb Brooks
Herb Brooks was created on August 5, 1937. Brooks was raised in a modest St. Paul duplex. Brooks was a high school coach who led his team to the Minnesota state championship. He went on to play college hockey for the University of Minnesota under legendary Coach John Mariucci, earning 45 points during the 1957-58 season. He played on many U.S. National teams in the 1960s and 1970s.
Miracle on Ice
The 1980 Olympic Men's National Hockey team defeated the Soviet Union to win the gold medal, earning the title "Miracle on Ice". This extraordinary feat is an important part of Cold War history and sports history.
Herb Brooks' plan: To get players to hate him
Herb Brooks was a former hockey coach and lived in Davos (Switzerland). He will now be the New York Rangers coach in March. Jim Craig, a Boston Bruins player, grew up in the same house with Herb. Craig received $35,000 to appear on a Coca-Cola commercial while playing for the Boston Bruins. The question is whether Brooks' scheme to make his players hate him or not.
Soviet hockey team's scrappy style
There were many left-handed players in the Soviet hockey team. They were taught to use their dominant right hand on the top of the stick, so they were often forced to play on their weak sides. They couldn't afford to be fetishized handed so they devised ways to compensate.
