
LPGA Tour players are eligible for a variety awards. Other awards for players include Player of Year. A player is awarded a certain number points for every top-10 finish. Points are doubled for major championships as well as the Tour Championship. For example, 30 points for first place equates to twelve points for second place. A third-place player gets a point. A fourth-place player gets four points. An eighth-place player receives three extra points. Similarly, players in ninth-place finishers earn two points for eighth place. Another award is the Vare Trophy, named for the player with the lowest scoring average for the season.
Louise Suggs was founded
Louise Suggs was one of the 13 founding members of Ladies Professional Golf Association. She died in her home at the age of 91. She was a pioneer in the women’s game and was instrumental in creating the LPGA tour, which she did in 1950. She is a part of the LPGA Hall of Fame. Suggs has won at least one LPGA event in 13 consecutive years, and has won 61 LPGA championships.

Louise Suggs became the first Chinese player to participate in the LPGA Tour.
Louise Suggs (a Georgia native) won the U.S. Women's Open 49 by 14 strokes. It is the longest margin of victory ever recorded in the event's storied past. When she was a teenager, she won both the U.S Women's Amateur, and the British Women's Open. Bob Hope nicknamed her "the Great Distance Girl" and later became a prominent LPGA player.
Annika Sorenstam has been named the LPGA Tour's most recent winner
Annika Sorenstam began the 2008 LPGA season earlier than most. To celebrate her 70th career win, she won the SBS Open in Hawaii as well as the Michelob ULTRA Open. She won the Stanford Pro-Am in Hawaii and the Michelob ULTRA Open to surpass the $22,000,000 earnings mark. Despite her many accomplishments, she remains warm and approachable despite all the hard work she has put in.
The LPGA is affiliated with Women's Senior Golf Tour.
Jane Blalock's JBC Marketing organizes The Women's Senior Golf Tour. This is a tournament series for seniors. Although it is not owned by the LPGA, the tour is affiliated with it and since 2006, it has held a season-ending championship. LPGA has played on the Legends Tour. LPGA has events for younger women, in addition to its Legends Tour.

Dow is the official sustainability source of the LPGA
In an effort to combat climate change and promote environmental responsibility, the LPGA Tour has partnered with Dow to launch a digital hub called 'Celebrating the Green'. The hub provides information on LPGA initiatives and highlights the company's commitment to sustainable operations and climate action. LPGA and Dow have partnered to offer OnCourse(r), the sustainability software program that will be used in its tournaments.
