Perceptual memory

What is the nature or perceptual memory of a person? This question has puzzled researchers for decades, but the answer could be more interesting than you think. According to this theory, the human mind is capable of recalling any past experience by bringing it to memory by a mental image. If asked to recall your birthday, your mind might picture a twenty-candle birthday cake and your siblings sitting at a dining table.

Perceptual or visual memory refers to the formation of a mental image of an object in memory. Perceptual memory is an abstract concept. However, there are also people who don't have perceptual memories but have normal factual ones. Malcolm examines the differences between these types of memory in his essay.
