Morgan's future is as a star player

Alex Morgan is one the most promising young players in the US women’s soccer league. She has scored 15 goals in 16 NWSL games this season. This summer, she will lead the U.S. team to the Concacaf tournament in Mexico. The US has not played in this tournament since 2010, when it was held in Cancun. Morgan helped the Americans win a gold medal at FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 despite losing to Mexico in the semifinals. Morgan was also instrumental in scoring the winning goal against Canada in the London Olympics 2012.

Rapinoe's lawsuit against U.S. soccerfederation

In April 2016, five members of the USWNT filed a lawsuit against the U.S. soccer federation seeking equal pay for the same work. They claimed they were unfairly treated based on their gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received the complaint. A federal judge sided against the federation in May 2020, and dismissed most of their unequal pay claims. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard the appeal and the women filed an opening brief.


Dunn's Olympic debut

Dunn's inclusion in the U.S. women’s soccer team was highly anticipated and celebrated in Rockville Centre, Maryland earlier this month. It marked the end of her World Cup absence, and her start to a new chapter in her soccer career.

Rapinoe's 3rd Olympics

Megan Rapinoe serves as a forward on the United States national soccer team. In 2009, Megan Rapinoe was back with the team and participated in their first World Cup. Rapinoe gave the ball to Abby Wambach in 2011, just before the game ended. She was part the Olympic team, and contributed to their gold medal win in London 2012.

Team USA's performance in Tokyo

Team USA's performance at the Summer Games is largely positive. The men's basketball team won gold in Tokyo, the women's volleyball team claimed their first Olympic gold, and the women's 4x400 meter relay team took home their first-ever gold. Allyson Felix extended her career medal total to 11, and the U.S. women's track and field team won their first gold in indoor volleyball.
