Maya Moore played for the Georgia Metros 16U Nike Travel Team in 2005 and 2006. Her team was 73-6 that year, and she won MVP honors. The team won four National Championships. Morgan Toles (the young player) and D'Andra Moss (the college level basketball player) were some of her teammates. She was also a member of the University of Connecticut's women's basketball team.

Maya Moore has announced that she will not be returning to the WNBA court this season. Last played for Minnesota Lynx in 2018, at the age of 25. In February, she said that she would be taking some time off to pursue her ministry dreams and to focus on family. Moore has also been working hard to release Jonathan Irons, a teenager who was convicted of the same crimes.
Jonathan Irons, Moore’s husband, was convicted of a burglary in 2007 and a shooting in 2007.
Moore met Irons during a visit to her Missouri godparents. His great-uncle introduced him to the rest. Irons was 16 at the time, and was convicted on charges of burglary as well as shooting at the residence of a white gentleman. The homeowner, Stanley Stotler, recognized Irons as the perpetrator. He was convicted of the crime by the jury and sentenced to imprisonment.

Moore proposed to Irons on the night a judge overturned his conviction for aggravated assault. After citing problems in the investigation, the judge overturned Irons’ conviction. They are now engaged and will start a foundation to assist wrongfully convicted people. Moore intends to return to basketball this spring.

Moore and Irons have a baby boy
Maya Moore has just revealed the birth of her first child with husband Jonathan Irons. The baby boy was born February 20, 2022. The couple were married in 2020, after Jonathan was released. The couple is still together, but it is not known if they are. Jonathan and Maya became close friends in prison.
