Leona Maguire leads 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship
Leona Maguire finished on 18-under at Fort Myers’ LPGA Drive On Championship. With a final-round 67, she became the first Irish woman in the LPGA Tour's top 100. Maguire's 198 total also marks a career high, matching her previous record of 15-under par in 2021's Pelican Women's Championship.
Maguire is acutely aware of the significance of her victory in women's tournament golf in her country. Even the president from Ireland congratulated Maguire on her win at the February 2022 Drive On Championship.

Marina Alex is second
Marina Alex has had a stellar season so far. However, that's just one reason for her success. Alex was sidelined for seven consecutive months due to a serious back injury. Alex's schedule changed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States. To keep her body in good shape, she had to increase her workouts. She had back problems when competition resumed in September. She played through it, and was determined to get healthy in time for the end-of-year tournaments.
In the recent past, Alex has made all but one cut. She finished fourth at the LPGA Drive On Championship, February. Alex was also on form for the West Coast Swing, California. She was 35th at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage's Chevron Championship. She then finished 10th at Wilshire Country Club's DIO Implant L.A. Open.
