She serves as a mentor to the next generation of women coaches

Jill Ellis established a mentoring program to support the next generation women soccer coaches. She is also the president of San Diego Wave FC, the newest club in the National Women's Soccer League. She will share her knowledge and insight on how to build a community and motivate people to work together towards a common goal.

Ellis has been hard at work over the past year in developing the program, and soliciting donations. The money she raises will go towards funding promising women coaches who would otherwise be unable to afford expensive licensing programs. The women will be assigned mentors who will provide advice and help build their professional networks. The program is expected to sponsor about three dozen women in its first year.

She is interested in hiring a woman to be her head coach

Former United States women's soccer coach Jill Ellis wants to see more women in leadership roles in pro sports. She's been offered coaching jobs and hopes more women will have access. She has created a program that will provide mentorship and financial assistance to women who want to become head coaches. These mentors can offer guidance and help build a professional network.

Jill Ellis was born into a country in which girls were not allowed to play competitive soccer. Margaret Ellis, Margaret's mother, opposed her daughter's participation. It was considered unethical to play soccer back then. As a teenager, she moved to Virginia to play soccer. She also helped lead her high school's soccer team to the state championship.
